Two Ways In

Experienced Or Brand New

Auto and diesel mechanics fit right in. No experience? We’ll train you.

Experienced Technicians: Coming from automotive, diesel, or fleet work? The fundamentals — hydraulics, electrical, engine diagnostics — carry straight over. What changes is the customer: a dedicated territory instead of walk-in traffic.

  • Auto, diesel, or fleet mechanic background
  • Comfortable with hydraulic & electrical diagnostics
  • Ready to trade retail chaos for a set route

New To The Trade: No industrial equipment experience needed. We hire for mechanical aptitude and reliability, then train you through paid, hands-on instruction alongside experienced techs.

  • Paid, structured training — online and hands-on
  • Mentorship from senior technicians
  • Clear path from entry-level to dedicated territory

Why Bortek

Family-Owned. Specialty Industry.

Bortek has been family-owned and operated since 1967. We service industrial floor sweepers, floor scrubbers, and public works equipment — machines most technicians never see in a standard auto or diesel shop.

Family-Owned Since 1967

Not a corporate chain — a company that knows its people.

B2B, Not Retail

Businesses and municipalities as customers — no walk-in traffic.

Specialty Equipment

Skills you won’t find in every shop down the street.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you apply.

No. We hire experienced auto/diesel mechanics and candidates with zero industry experience. Paid training covers the rest.

Monday–Friday, no weekends, no on-call. On-site techs run a set territory; in-shop techs work a fixed location.

You can build a career path into specialized technician roles, parts and operations positions, sales, management, training, and other leadership opportunities. We promote from within whenever possible and want to help you grow with the company.

Absolutely. As you gain experience and develop new skills, you’ll have opportunities to increase your earnings. The more you learn and accomplish, the more opportunities you’ll have to advance your career and your income. Road Service Technicians can also participate in our efficiency bonus program, based on performance in the field.

Yes. We provide hands-on training and real-world experience — including diagnostics, electrical, and hydraulic work. You’ll learn from experienced team members, work with industry-leading equipment and technology, and develop skills that are transferable and in demand throughout the industry.

Training is ongoing throughout a technician’s career. New techs typically spend their first 6–12 months building core skills and equipment familiarity, then continue developing through manufacturer training, certifications, and hands-on experience. Many technicians keep advancing their skills for years as they specialize in different equipment and technologies.

Most technicians spend their first year learning the equipment, systems, and procedures, then advance to higher-skilled roles with increased responsibility and earning potential as they gain experience and complete training. Many are ready for senior-level responsibilities within 2–5 years, with leadership opportunities often opening up after that. We promote based on performance, attitude, and leadership potential — not just years of experience.

You might start as a technician apprentice, warehouse associate, or parts assistant. With training, hard work, and support from our team, you could become a skilled technician, supervisor, manager, or sales professional. Your first position is just the beginning of your career journey.

Yes. Many senior technicians started entry-level. Growth is based on performance, not tenure.
