Pre-Operation Checklist
Before conducting the inspection:
Make sure the truck engine is off, all movement has stopped, the truck is in park with the parking brake engaged, and the sweeper is on level ground.
Left Side Broom
- Broom free of debris, string, wire, etc.
- Side broom spray nozzles operational and free of debris.
- Bristle length no less than 6”.
- Down pressure sufficient to create a 4” strike pattern.
- Broom pattern 9:00 to 1:00.
- Broom speed approximately 70–75 RPM.
Right Side Broom
- Broom free of debris, string, wire, etc.
- Broom spray nozzles operational and free of debris.
- Bristle length no less than 6”.
- Down pressure sufficient to create a 4” strike pattern.
- Broom pattern 11:00 to 3:00.
- Broom speed approximately 75–80 RPM.
Pickup Head
- Pickup head free of debris and caked-on materials.
- Pickup head spray nozzles operational and free of debris.
- Blast orifice at 1”.
- Spring suspension approximately 40 lbs lift per corner.
- Pickup head flap extends below skid plates.
- Hoses clean and free of holes.
- Hoses securely fastened to the pickup head.
Fan & Housing
- ¼” clearance between the smallest diameter of the fan inlet scroll and the edge of the back cover plate orifice.
- Fan blades clean and free of debris.
- Drive belt correctly adjusted and not slipping.
Hopper
- Hopper seals in place and sealing properly in lowered position.
- Hopper screens clean and free of debris.
- Hopper suction inlet tube clean and free of debris.
- Dust separator opens and closes freely with hopper movement.
- Inspection door seals in place and sealing properly.
- Rear hopper seals in place and sealing properly when door is closed and latched.
- Dump door closes and latches securely.
- Hand hose door closes and latches securely.
Skid Plate
- Skid plate not bent or damaged.
- Skid plate adjusted so blast orifice is 2”–2.5” above sweeping surface.
Water System
- Water tank has sufficient water.
- All nozzles clean and operational.
General
- Unit clean and free of tools, loose hardware, debris, etc.
Auxiliary Engine
- Check oil and radiator fluid levels.
- Inspect fuel and oil filters.
- Inspect engine for leaks or damage.
Chassis Truck Pre-Operation Inspection
- Inspect rims and wheel nuts.
- Check tires for wear, damage, and pressure.
- Inspect and check braking system.
- Inspect and check steering system.
- Inspect suspension system.
- Inspect exhaust system.
- Check fuel level.
- Check chassis engine oil and radiator fluid levels.
- Inspect engine air cleaners.
- Check transmission fluid level.
- Check battery.
- Inspect all engine drive belts for wear.
- Check windshield washer fluid level.
- Check operation of all lights and beacons.
- Adjust mirrors.
- Verify all emergency equipment is present.
