When designing new products, we look at how our products can help our customers perform better and more efficiently. The Evolution carpet wand's innovative design increased the performance of our portable carpet extractors, so the next logical step was to construct the Evolution TM, designed specifically for use with truckmounts.
Customer feedback has always been important to us during a product's design phase. We let several professional carpet cleaners and testing facilities use the new carpet wand for multiple hours, so that we gain valuable insight for the final design.
The Evolution TM was planned using the same laminar airflow structure as the original, only in a bigger model of wand made specifically to work with truckmount cleaning systems.
The Theory of Air Flow
Air flowshigh pressure regions to areas of low pressure. When air flows at higher velocities, especially through an airway with irregular walls, flow is normally disorganized, and tends to form eddies. This chaotic flow is called turbulent flow (See Diagram 1). Turbulent flow is found in most carpet wand designs today. A considerably large driving pressure is required to sustain turbulent flow. To double the flow rate when you have turbulent flow, the driving pressure must be quadrupled. When flow is low in velocity and through narrow tubes, it tends to be more orderly, streamlined and flows in a straight line. This type of flow is called laminar flow (See Diagram 2). Unlike turbulent flow, to double the flow rate with laminar flow, one needs to only double the driving pressure.
Using a 2" vacuum tube, this wand attaches directly to the 2" vacuum hose of most truckmounts and does not require couplers, which limit performance. A wide 16" head helps increase productivity by covering more square feet per hour. At only 8.8 lbs, the Evolution TM reduces fatigue for the cleaning technician.
The custom glide holder is rotationally molded into the head for an airtight fit. The custom glide provides smooth operation on nearly any type of carpeted surface. Most importantly, the laminar air flow design delivers superior water recovery by streamlining airflow, and 6 spray jets provide optimum cleaning power and coverage.
